Increase Your Work Capacity

One of our objectives with Crossfit is to increase our work capacity.   What does that mean? Well, I really like one of Webster's defintions of work:   a sustained physical or mental effort to overcome obstacles and achieve an objective or result.   I love this definiton because of its emphasis on the mental aspect of work.  Sure what we do is physically taxing.  Some might even say it's downright exhausting, (I am fanning my face right now).  Truth is, life can be a bit tiresome.  That's okay though, because, but like anything else, you get better at it the more you do it.  That's the simple version, but let me re-phrase:  you get better at working when you figure out that your body is more capable than you thought it was, which in turn allows you to train harder, which in turn allows your body to be even more capable. Easy enough, right?  Try and take fewer breaks.  When you need to break, that's ok, just try and keep the duration of the break short (Back on the bar!). Soon, some of you will find that the mind enjoys bossing the body.  Especially when you've found that all of your hard work has made your body more capable than it's ever been...
